BRIEF: Builders pull back on construction of new homes
Sept. 09--Builders in Hampton Roads reined in new-home construction last quarter even as sales of new homes grew, according to a recent report. The number was down 16.5 percent compared with the same period last year. At the same time, sales of new homes last quarter rose to 775, up 18 percent from the 655 sales that closed during the same period a year earlier.
